Problem with intermittent wipers on 2000 Jaguar
I own a 2000 Jaguar S-Type. My wipers work properly if used continuously, but jerk and stop when I turn the intermittent control on, i.e. they go up a few inches, stop and do not move for about 45 seconds, then go up a few more inches and do the same thing, all the way till the up cycle is done and then do the same thing on the down cycle. I suspect the wiper motor is bad, but not sure. Does it sound like the motor is bad or is there another control that might be bad, such as a relay or something? I know where the motor is located, but if it is another part, where would that be.

Thanks in advance for the help.Big Grin[/font]

RE: Problem with intermittent wipers on 2000 Jaguar
I've lost track of who makes the electrical components for Jag these days but most every system that has "delay" wipers has a control module just for that purpose. Some are actually mounted right on the motor and some are located remotely. The fact that they work in the slow and high speed indicates the motor itself is probably ok.

What I would do is make a call to your local dealer before anything else and verify any possible safety recalls on wipers. It may be covered under an extended warranty if that's the case. I'd also ask at the dealer's parts department about the module in question to see if it's available without buying the motor itself as it's probably not available in the after market.
