Replacing a cv joint on drivers side. Oil seal is out of the tranny but there seems to be another seal or something there. It looks like a easy fix but I am not sure. Any ideas

Did one of those not too long ago and only recall a single seal on both sides.

Perhaps you didn't get all of the pieces out? The old seal is rubber on the inside diameter and a coated steal for the outside perimeter. Quite often it breaks into pieces on removal.

If you removed several bolts and took the side of the trans case off in the process (not necessary) you should be looking at an o-ring or silicone sealer on that mating surface.

When you re-install the axel be sure you hear the snap-ring (on the axel) click into place before installing the outter end to the wheel hub. Normally it will require several firm pushes with a quarter turn each time to get the ring centered before it goes fully into position. Jack up the other side and put the trans into neutral to make this easier.
