Passing gear-Transmission downshifting
Cannot get my transmission to go into "passing gear" or downshift which means that I have to slowly accelerate. I had this problem once before and took it to a mechanic he changed a few sensors but never told me I had a transmission problem.

RE: Passing gear-Transmission downshifting
Is this the same Buick LeSabre? It really helps us to know what vehicle we are working on. Thanks.

Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds.

RE: Passing gear-Transmission downshifting
I will assume this is the 1994 Buick LeSable. I will also assume this is the Buick posting link and not the Mercury posting link. If the trans shifts normal other than the downshift concern, I would first try to adjust the throttle valve cable. Here are some instructions and a diagram. If this does not help it would properly be in the valve body. Let us know how it goes.

ADJUSTMENT

Ensure ignition is in the Off position.
Depress and hold metal adjustment tab at engine end of TV cable,
Move slider until it contacts fitting, then release tab.
Check cable for sticking or binding and road test vehicle. Recheck cable after engine has reached normal operating temperature, as cable may appear to operate properly with engine cold.

RE: Passing gear-Transmission downshifting
Please start a fresh thread with the year, make model, engine, and trany particulars... otherwise it's just a guess and VERY generic info.
