1998 Volvo V70 AWD TROUBLESHOOTING
I recently purchased a 1998 Volvo V70R AWD wagon. The motor went bad, and I recently swapped it out. Have everything back together, but now I do not get the starter to turn over when turning the key. All the lights come on, but NO key start. I have power to the starter, and if I jump it accross the starter it will turn over, but not with the key. I also do not get any spark with the key on and jumping the starter.
Am I missing something with a relay, or anti-theft relay, or starter inhibitor switch. Where are they located?? ![]() Thanks Robert ![]() |

RE: 1998 Volvo V70 AWD TROUBLESHOOTING
Below is the only diagram of the starting system that I have. I would start by checking all fuses and fuseable link wire.

RE: 1998 Volvo V70 AWD TROUBLESHOOTING
Checked all wires I can think of relating to the starter. Turn key on to check test light at coil, and get intermittent flash. NOT constant on. I am thinking that it is between the key switch and the PNP switch. I can bypass the starter solenoid to turn over, but get NO spark from plugs. NO juice going through coils.??

I would go back over all elec. connectors and grounds that were removed/disconnected for the engine install. Check all fuses. When you said test light at the coil would flash, are you turning the engine over at the time?

FOUND THE PROBLEM!
The fuel pump relay was bad. Put new one in, and she fired right up. |
