Replace Catalytic converter?
2005 Kia Spectra5 149xxx miles 2l engine. California Central Valley.
Engine light on.
code might have something to do with o2 sensor. It might say that it is below efficiency.
is there a history of a faulty wiring problem causing the engine light to come on?

Did the intake manifold fail and need to be replaced? (California emissions)
Could this be solved by having the wiring for the o2 sensor replaced??????? Will this let me pass an emissions test? (california)

Also, how much carbon damage is too much damage for an engine cover?

RE: Replace Catalytic converter?
I don't really have anything to go on here. I am guessing that the Check Engine Light is on? The CEL can come on for dozens of reasons including problems with the transmission. Without the exact code numbers we don't even know what system we are dealing with.

You need to have the computer scanned to retrieve the code or codes present. Record all code NUMBERS, post those numbers here for review, and have the computer cleared.
